1. That a consultation upon the proposed order be authorised.

2. That the Cabinet Member with responsibility for Community Health be given delegated authority to authorise the making of a Public Space Protection order as set out in the report subject to and following the consultation process.

Reason for Decision

Suffolk Police had produced reports which highlight the potential dangers of legal highs which according to national statistics are on the increase. The effects of NPS were highlighted in a statement from Acting Detective Inspector Bodmer.

Alternative Options Considered and Rejected

The option of not having a PSPO in place for Latitude 2019 and onwards was an option however initial consultation indicated wide support for a continuation of the current approach.
