The Fire Safety Strategy will set the Strategic Direction, which will ensure relevant policies and procedures can be developed which align to this Strategy and enable the Council to effectively manage the Housing Revenue Account (HRA) stock, which will ensure residents are able to remain living safely in their homes.

Option 2 – This would have seen the failure to adopt the Fire Safety Strategy.  This was not a recommended option as it did not set out the standards officers are expected to follow to effectively manage fire using a risk-based approach.
Decision Proposed:

1. That the Fire Safety Strategy, attached as Appendix A of report ES/1125, be approved which will be implemented by officers immediately.

 

2. That authority be delegated to the Cabinet Member with responsibility for Housing, Head of Housing and the Housing, Health and Safety Board to update the Strategy as required.

 

3. That authority be delegated to the Head of Housing and the Housing, Health and Safety Board to develop all the required policies and procedures to support the implementation of this Fire Safety Strategy.
