The Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) is being prepared by Suffolk County Council. As a ‘Supporting Authority’, East Suffolk Council has a legal duty to confirm whether we are content for the LNRS to proceed to public consultation.

1. Agreed to the Suffolk Local Nature Recovery Strategy proceeding to public consultation



2.Agreed to submit the letter at Appendix B to Suffolk County Council
Reason for Decision
Having reviewed the consultation draft LNRS provided to East Suffolk Council on 15th January 2025, there is no objection to Suffolk County Council proceeding to public consultation. East Suffolk Council will be able to comment on the detail of the LNRS during the public consultation.
Alternative Options Considered and Rejected

Options

1. Agree to the to the Suffolk LNRS proceeding to public consultation in accordance with the letter set out in Appendix B. This will allow Suffolk County Council to proceed with the public consultation on the LNRS, to which East Suffolk will be able to submit a response in relation to the detailed content.

 

2. An alternative option would be to formally object to Suffolk County Council commencing consultation on the Suffolk LNRS. However, having reviewed the draft of the Suffolk LNRS, officers do not consider that there are any grounds to object to the LNRS proceeding to the consultation stage. East Suffolk Council will be able to comment on the detail of the LNRS during the public consultation.
