Budget Provision:
Adoption of the Healthy Environments SPD will provide up to date guidance to assist with the implementation of the Council’s Local Plan policies which relate to supporting health and wellbeing through the planning and design approaches taken to development.
Documents to be Given to Decision Maker:
Adopt the Healthy Environments SPD meaning the Council has an up-to-date SPD to guide the implementation of the key planning policies for health and wellbeing.
An alternative option would be to not adopt the SPD and continue to implement the planning policies without the additional guidance.
However, this would be a missed opportunity to provide further clarification on the requirements of the policies, and address some of the frequently raised matters that come about through the development management process, and so ultimately support effective implementation of the relevant Local Plan policies.
Decision Proposed:
That Cabinet:
1. Adopts the Healthy Environments Supplementary Planning Document.
2. Authorises the Head of Planning and Coastal Management, in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Planning and Coastal Management, to make any presentational or typographical amendments to the Healthy Environments Supplementary Planning Document prior to it being published.
