1 Election of a Chairman

To elect a Chairman for the Licensing Sub-Committee.

On the proposition of Councillor Newton, seconded by Councillor Fisher it was

 

RESOLVED

 

That Councillor Edward Back be elected as Chairman for the meeting of the Licensing Sub-Committee.

To receive apologies for absence, if any.

Report of the Senior Licensing Officer

The Senior Licensing Officer presented report ES/1253 regarding an application requesting classification of 22 short films to be screened at Snape Maltings as part of the Festival of New. The Sub-Committee were asked to determine the appropriate admission criteria for the films in accordance with British Board of Film Classification guidelines. The Sub-Committee had viewed the films between 9.00 am and 3.30 pm on 24 August 2022. 

 

In response to a question from Councillor Newton, the Senior Licensing Officer undertook to advise the applicant of Members' concerns about the flashing and flickering lighting on two of the films -  'Join the Din', and the film created by Frazer Merrick.

 

The Chairman invited the Sub-Committee to comment on the films. Members were content that there was no potentially harmful content in any of the films, and observed that the films were artistic and/or musical in nature.  

 

Having applied the guidelines of the British Board of Film Classification, it was proposed by Councillor Back, seconded by Councillor Fisher and by a unanimous vote it was 

 

RESOLVED

 

That the films to be screened at Snape Maltings as part of the Festival of New be classified as Universal (U) - Suitable for All.
