Members are invited to a Meeting of the Licensing Sub-Committee

to be held in the Conference Room, Riverside, Lowestoft

on Tuesday, 21 September 2021 at 2.00pm

 

In order to comply with East Suffolk Council's coronavirus arrangements and guidance, the number of people at this meeting will have to be restricted to only those whose attendance is reasonably necessary.

1 Election of a Chairman

To elect a Chairman for the Sub-Committee meeting.

Councillor Ashdown was nominated by Councillor Newton to be Chairman of this Meeting of the Sub-Committee. The nomination was seconded by Councillor Fisher. There being no other nominations, it was

 

RESOLVED

 

That Councillor Ashdown be elected as Chairman of this Sub-Committee.

5 Film Classification - a film to be screened at Riverside Theatre, Woodbridge

The Sub-Committee received report ES/0893. An application had been received to give a film to be screened at the Riverside Theatre, Woodbridge on 26 September 2021 an appropriate admission classification.

 

The Sub-Committee members had viewed the film on 20 September 2021. 

 

The Chairman invited the Sub-Committee to comment on the film. The Sub-Committee considered the film to be an interesting art project highlighting the landscapes and habitats of the area. The Sub-Committee noted that as a dance piece focussing on the natural world there was no imagery which would not be suitable for younger or sensitive children. The Sub-Committee applied the guidance of the British Board of Film Classification in determining the appropriate admission criteria. 

 

It was proposed by Councillor Newton, seconded by Councillor Fisher and by a unanimous vote of three

 

RESOLVED

 

That the film Dance Under Suffolk Skies receives a classification of U for its screening at the Riverside Theatre, Woodbridge on 26 September 2021.

6 Exempt/Confidential Items

It is recommended that under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended) the public be excluded from the meeting for the following item of business on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 1 and 2 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act.

On the proposition of Councillor Newton, seconded by Councillor Fisher, it was by unanimous vote

 

RESOLVED

 

That under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended) that the public be excluded from the meeting for the following item of business on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 1 and 2 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act.
